BLF’S SHODH YATRA

In collaboration with the Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI), BLF hosted two significant Shodh Yatras in the districts of Tuensang in 2016 and Kiphire in 2024. These journeys, known as ‘research walks’, aim to unearth and celebrate indigenous knowledge and innovations in some of the most remote parts of India.

In 2016, the 38th Shodh Yatra traversed the terrains of Tuensang, engaging with local communities to discover traditional practices and innovations. The 50th Shodh Yatra, held in 2024, marked a significant milestone in the series of research walks organized by SRISTI. Hosted in Kiphire, this yatra brought together a diverse group of participants, including innovators, researchers, and community members, to explore and document grassroots innovations. The yatra was hosted by Mr. Sethrichem Sangtam, the founder of BLF, who provided insights into the region’s development initiatives and the importance of community-driven solutions.

By documenting and disseminating grassroots innovations, both the 2016 and 2024 Shodh Yatras have contributed to a broader understanding of sustainable practices. The importance of continued efforts to recognize and promote grassroots innovations can, thus, be observed from the success of the Shodh Yatras in Tuensang and Kiphire.
